Labor & Delivery RN Job Details

• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (travel nursing contract)
• Location: Stafford, VA 22554 – Virginia healthcare jobs
• Unit: Labor & Delivery (L&D), LDRP
• Facility Type: Short-Term Acute Care Hospital, Level II Trauma Center
• Start Date: September 9, 2025
• End Date: December 9, 2025
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), 3 shifts/week
• Total Hours: 36 hours per week
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,730 - $1,770 per week
• Patient Ratios: 2 laboring mothers – 4 couplets per nurse
• Charting System: Epic (Epic EMR experience required)
• Scrub Colors: Navy blue & white
• Parking: Free onsite parking

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or compact state
• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications
• AWHONN Intermediate or Relias Fetal Heart Rate course (facility can provide access if needed)
• Proficiency with Epic EMR (required; no training provided)
• Ability to circulate and perform fetal heart monitoring
• Preferred: Scrub & OB assist experience, previous charge nurse or community hospital experience, Level II Trauma experience
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
• Completion of up to 8 hours of onboarding modules within 1 week of signing

Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns in the LDRP unit
• Monitor and interpret fetal heart rates, administer medications, and assist with labor induction and deliveries, including C-sections
• Educate and support patients and families on postpartum and newborn care, including breastfeeding and discharge instructions
• Circulate for C-sections, assist with high-risk deliveries, and perform newborn assessments
• Float to other hospital units as needed to provide clinical support
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (respiratory, radiology, pharmacy, social services)
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation using Epic EMR
• Comply with hospital policies, infection control, and safety protocols
