NICU Registered Nurse Job Details
- Assignment Type: Locum Tenens (Travel Nursing Contract)
- Location: Lake Forest, IL 60045 (Chicago area nursing jobs)
- Unit: Special Care Nursery – NICU Level III/IV
- Duration: 12 weeks (Start: 10/6/2025 – End: 12/29/2025)
- Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (19:00 – 07:30)
- Total Hours: 36 per week
- Weekend Requirement: Yes
- On Call: No
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2130-$2190
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license (must be in hand before start date)
- Minimum 1 year of direct NICU nursing experience required
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (ASN or BSN)
- BLS certification through AHA; NRP required (ACLS/PALS preferred if applicable)
- Experience with electronic charting systems (any EHR/EMR)
- Proficiency in NICU Level II/III/IV care, including care for neonates 29-34 weeks, breastfeeding support, breast milk handling, bottle/breast/gavage feedings, isolation precautions, central/implanted line care, UAC/UVC, IV vasopressors, surfactants, steroids, neonatal abstinence syndrome, Bubble CPAP, and oxygen delivery systems
- Must submit valid RN license, completed skills checklist, and two professional references (one from a Supervisor/Manager/Charge RN within the last year)
- COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical exemptions for COVID-19 only)
- Deliver compassionate, evidence-based care to neonates in a Level III/IV NICU setting
- Monitor and manage neonates with complex medical needs, including advanced respiratory support and specialized feeding techniques
- Perform and document assessments, interventions, and evaluations per hospital protocols
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Educate and support families on neonatal care and breastfeeding best practices
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control and isolation precautions
- Participate in orientation and required training modules during scheduled shifts
- Provide weekend coverage as scheduled
