A mid-sized Fairfax City law firm has an opportunity for an experienced Legal Assistant with strong litigation, technical, and administrative skills to support attorneys in the Family Law practice. Responsibilities include maintaining and processing case information, managing the progression of cases through final disposition, creating electronic files, preparing and processing transcription, correspondence, memoranda, and complex legal documents, and performing other administrative functions.
Litigation responsibilities include preparing documents for state and federal court filings, including discovery requests and responses, letters, pleadings, motions, and related filings, as well as e-filing in various state and federal courts. Administrative duties include scheduling meetings and appointments, maintaining attorney calendars and contact information, handling new client intake, time entry and billing, file maintenance utilizing the firm’s electronic records management system, and coordinating travel and expense reimbursement.
Qualified applicants must possess strong communication, organizational, proofreading, and client service skills and be able to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Experience with transcription is a plus.
This position requires a high degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with e-filing, document management, and time and billing systems is required.
