Job Summary: Operates equipment with priority of making job safe for all persons working around the equipment, while performing site work task on assigned jobs. Site work to be performed includes, but not limited to, operating equipment to move, dig or transport dirt, debris and other construction materials. Performs daily equipment inspection and completes an operational check list. Salary is based on skill level and is set after an on site interview.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Discusses plans for the day’s work with foreman, reviews blueprints if necessary and determines best method of getting assigned work completed in a safe manner. Follows instructions of on-site management.
- Adjusts hand levers and depresses pedals to operate equipment and control attachments such as, blades, buckets, scrapers, and swing booms.
- Performs equipment maintenance duties such as cleaning, greasing, and oiling machines.
- Utilizes actual years of experience in operating equipment in developing a feel for various levers and attachments and in developing skills such as fine grading and cutting slopes
- Operates equipment with priority of making the job safe for all persons working around the equipment. Ensures that other workers stay clear of machine while working in tight places and ensures that there is teamwork between self and other operators working at the project site.
- Make judgements regarding the most efficient operations of equipment and attachments.
- Perform other duties as needed or directed by supervisor. Management retains the right to add or change duties at any time.
- Compliance with S W Rodgers Company, Inc polices including but not limited to-Equipment Repair/Maintenance procedures and Operator Safety Standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Must have dependable transportation to move among job sites assigned to in the Northern Virginia Area
- Ability to pass Pre-employment drug test and physical (Random and post accident drug and alcohol testing is mandatory)
- Ability read directions, orders or other work-related documents and safety warnings, hear audible horns and alarms, have sense of smell and touch
- Ability to understand and follow instructions.
- Pre-employment drug screening and physical are required
Desired Attributes:
- Two years of equipment operating experience is necessity.
- Two years work-related experience is a necessity.
- Ability to work independently or as a team, is dependable and has a strong work ethic.
- Self-motivated, pro-active and takes initiative.
