Electrical Technician
Join a leading provider of critical infrastructure solutions as a Critical Systems Technician II, Battery, based in Ashburn, VA. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the reliability and performance of battery systems that support Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems for mission-critical facilities. This position offers hands-on experience with battery installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting, as well as opportunities to learn and grow within a collaborative team environment. Responsibilities
- Assist with battery replacements and new installations for UPS systems.
- Support preventative and scheduled maintenance of battery systems with minimal disruption to customers.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site during all phases of work.
- Follow operational, maintenance, and emergency procedures to ensure safety and compliance.
- Work from schematic diagrams, sketches, and verbal instructions to complete tasks.
- Interact effectively with internal teams and external customers to ensure high-quality service.
- Assist with work in other service divisions, such as Switch Gear, Operations, and HVAC, as needed.
- Learn and apply techniques for disconnecting and connecting sealed batteries, building battery racks, and installing batteries in critical spaces.
- Collect and enter test readings and maintenance data using a laptop computer.
- Gain experience in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs on DC battery systems with increasing independence.
- Assist in warehouse operations as required.
- Travel approximately 30% or more to customer sites as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Services Management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of or willingness to learn AC/DC theory, electronic components, and circuitry.
- Ability to use hand tools and general maintenance equipment safely.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- Completion of OSHA 10-hour certification and NFPA-70E Safety Training (or willingness to obtain).
- Understanding of proper use of isolation devices, Arc-Flash suit, and PPE.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and work rules in critical facility environments.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to travel as required (approximately 30% or more).
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
