Who Are We Looking For?

We are seeking a motivated intern with a foundation in programming and a passion for solving real problems using modern AI-enabled technology. Ideal candidates are eager to collaborate, comfortable learning quickly, and interested in applying GenAI tools (e.g., LLMs and prompt techniques) alongside core software and data engineering practices.

This is a full-time, 10-week internship that begins in early June 2026. This is a hybrid position from our Reston, VA headquarters. At this time, we are unable to provide relocation nor housing assistance for this internship. Pay is expected to be $23/hour.

Key Responsibilities

As a 2026 Summer Intern, AI Engineering, you will:

• Gain hands-on experience prototyping and evaluating AI-enabled solutions, primarily through a small number of well-scoped GenAI use cases.
• Navigate responsible LLM usage, prompt design, and practical patterns (such as grounding responses with the team’s data).
• Collaborate with senior engineers to integrate and test capabilities in real workflows.

A key objective of this internship is to create a win-win engagement: to obtain a fresh perspective, new ways of thinking, and emerging AI skills against real-world problems our clients face. The goal is to deliver work with measurable impact, and the intern may have the opportunity to present learning or project deliverables to leadership before the internship concludes.

Minimum Qualifications

• A minimum of 30 completed college credit hours towards a bachelor’s degree in computer science or relevant discipline.
• Due to contract requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge or experience with:
  • Languages: Python, C#
  • Tools: Cloud data and AI ecosystems, Git, VS Code, notebooks, GenAI/LLM tooling (e.g., prompt frameworks, vector databases), TensorFlow, PyTorch
  • Skills: Machine Learning, Software Engineering Principles
• Strong verbal and written communications
• A willingness to solve problems in a collaborative environment with various stakeholders
• The ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment while demonstrating sound time management

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$37,855.00 - $64,354.00
