Fleet Tractor-Trailer Diesel Technician (Peterbilt/Tankers)

We’re seeking a detail-focused diesel technician to maintain and repair company-owned Peterbilt tractors and tanker trailers. You’ll ensure every unit meets DOT and company standards while helping us deliver reliable service at the lowest possible maintenance cost.

Your Schedule & Pay

• Location: Lorton, VA
• Third shift coverage: 10:30 pm – 6:30 pm (start time slightly flexible)
• Open to alternative shifts
• Initial schedule: Monday–Friday, 1st shift for onboarding
• Standard days: Monday–Friday
• Compensation: $28–$32 per hour

What You’ll Handle

• Follow safe work procedures to protect people and equipment.
• Perform diagnostics, repairs, and PMs aligned with DOT and company requirements.
• Coordinate and track PMs, permits, registrations, annual tank tests, inspections, and safety equipment (including fire extinguishers).
• Maintain organized, compliant fleet records.
• Order parts and manage stock levels for the garage.
• Keep shop tools and bays clean, organized, and in good working order.
• Drive expense control by stewarding maintenance cost-saving measures.
• Process warranty claims and reimbursements.
• Complete additional projects and tasks as directed by fleet management.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience as a diesel tractor-trailer mechanic (preferred)
• Tanker/hazmat experience preferred; higher pay for strong skill in this area
• Air Brake Certification
• CDL preferred but not required
• ASE certification preferred

Competencies

• Works well independently; self-starter
• Knowledge of DOT, EPA, OSHA
• Strong diagnostic ability
• Basic computer and data-entry skills
• Solid maintenance and operations background
• Understanding of tanker and hazmat requirements (preferred)
