Community & Brand Strategist
SUMMARY
We are looking for a scrappy, growth-minded Community & Brand Strategist to join our lean marketing team. This is a broad, high-ownership role — you will be the primary voice of Bonfire across social media, earned media, influencer marketing, and our UGC engine. You will own the channels, build the programs, and tell the stories that help us grow our seller community.
At Bonfire, the work of our sellers — creators, nonprofits, communities, and causes — are our best story. Your job is to find those stories worth telling and distribute them in ways that bring in more sellers just like them. You understand how communities, creators, and social platforms drive discovery, and you know how to use that understanding to build growth loops. You will work closely with our Director of Brand and Product Marketing, but you will have latitude to set strategy and move fast.
This is not a role for someone who needs a large team or a long runway before they can execute. You will be writing posts, pitching to the press, reaching out to creators, and building the systems that make it all compound. We want someone who is in tune with the shifting landscape of social media and marketing in an AI-laden world. You follow how AI is reshaping brand discovery and search, and you are excited to help Bonfire shape our narrative through these shifts.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Include but are not limited to:
- Own and manage Bonfire’s social media presence across platforms [TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, X, YouTube, and Reddit] with a growth mindset.
- Develop and execute social media strategy to increase brand awareness, drive seller acquisition, and grow share of voice.
- Be comfortable on camera and willing to be a regular face of Bonfire in short-form video content.
- Build and manage an influencer and creator marketing program from identifying the right partners and building relationships to designing incentive structures and measuring real acquisition impact.
- Source and facilitate the telling of authentic seller stories through paid and organic UGC programs across channels.
- Own Bonfire’s earned media and PR efforts: build out a streamlined process to get our sellers’ stories out.
- Build peer-to-peer virality and referral loops that turn happy sellers into one of our most effective growth channels.
- Show up authentically in community platforms like Reddit and YouTube, where our sellers and potential sellers already spend time.
- Analyze channel performance data, track what is working, and make data-driven optimizations to continuously improve.
- Collaborate with the Director of Brand and Product Marketing to align social and earned media programs with broader marketing initiatives and product launches.
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of the Bonfire brand and act, speak, and respond in the Bonfire voice at all times.
- Stay current on how AI is reshaping content discovery and search — and actively identify opportunities for Bonfire to show up in the places people (and AI tools) look for answers.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms and analytics tools — particularly TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, X, YouTube, and Reddit — and their respective audiences and best practices.
- Proven track record of driving meaningful growth outcomes through social media, community, or earned media programs — not just follower counts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. You can write a compelling seller feature, a press pitch, and an Instagram caption in the same afternoon.
- Strong instincts for storytelling and what makes people share something — and the ability to reverse-engineer that into content and programs.
- Experience with Figma, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, video editing, or other multimedia content creation tools is a strong plus.
- Experience in PR or media relations.
- Loves the intersection of commerce, storytelling, and community.
- Experience working with short-form video or animation content.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of experience in social media, creator partnerships, community marketing, brand marketing, or a related role.
- Demonstrated experience owning social channels or community programs with measurable results.
- Consistent access to a reasonably distraction-free home workspace with reliable high-speed internet and a smartphone or mobile device.
- Technologically savvy, with strong computer skills and the ability to embrace and adapt to new tools and technology.
- Eastern or Central US time zones working hours required
ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Familiarity with the creator economy, apparel, fundraising, or nonprofit industries.
- Experience building or scaling a YouTube or Reddit presence for a brand or creator.
- Experience building influencer or creator programs with clear acquisition or growth goals.
