Approx. 20–30 hours/week to start, with potential for growth

About the Firm

We are a growing accounting and advisory firm serving small business clients, primarily in the trades (electricians, HVAC, plumbing, roofing), and Individuals with rentals or a schedule C. Our services include tax preparation, bookkeeping, and advisory. We are currently expanding and improving our systems and are looking for a reliable, experienced professional to help stabilize operations and support growth.

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper/Tax Preparer who can also assist with tax preparation and practice operations. This role is critical in helping us maintain accurate books, improve workflow efficiency, and support tax season deliverables.

This is not an entry-level role. We are looking for someone who can take ownership, work independently, and help bring structure to a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Bookkeeping & Accounting

• Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
• Clean up and maintain accurate financial records
• Ensure bookkeeping is completed on a timely, monthly basis
• Assist in identifying discrepancies and resolving issues

Tax Preparation Support

• Prepare individual and business tax returns (1040, 1120S, 1065 experience preferred)
• Assist with workpapers, document organization, and data entry
• Prepare and/or assist with payroll tax filings (941, 940)
• Support IRS resolution cases with documentation and filings

Operations & Workflow Support

• Organize client files within TaxDome (or similar systems)
• Drake Tax Software or similar
• Assist with workflow setup, tagging, and process improvements
• Track client progress and follow up on missing documents
• Help move work through the pipeline efficiently

Qualifications

• 3+ years of bookkeeping experience (required)
• Strong understanding of QuickBooks Online (required)
• Experience with tax preparation (strongly preferred)
• Familiarity with 1040, 1120S, and/or 1065 returns
• Schedule C, D, and E
• Experience with payroll filings (941/940) is a plus
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Strong communication skills
