Compensation

Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Danville, VA 24541 (Virginia healthcare jobs)
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (Travel RN contract)
• Specialty: Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse
• Facility: 250-bed academic community hospital
• Unit: 5A, 24 beds
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 9/2/2025 – End: 12/2/2025)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend/as needed
• Patient Ratio: 1:6
• Electronic Health Record: Meditech EHR
• Orientation: Bi-weekly on Tuesdays

RN Qualifications

• Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse license in Virginia
• BLS certification (required prior to start)
• NIH Stroke Scale certification (required prior to start)
• Health and Wellness Certification (HWC) – available on-site
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg RN experience
• Consent to random drug screening and completion of a criminal questionnaire/consent form
• Professional demeanor and ability to serve diverse patient populations (all ages)
• Willingness to float as needed
• Scrub color: Any (no casual wear)

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to medical/surgical patients of all ages
• Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions and responses to treatment
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Administer medications, treatments, and procedures as prescribed
• Educate patients and families on health conditions and post-discharge care
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Meditech electronic health records
• Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
• Participate in orientation, ongoing training, and quality improvement initiatives
