Job Summary
The Patient Services Representative serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors in a busy medical practice. This role provides excellent customer service while supporting front office operations, including patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and payment collection. The ideal candidate is professional, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner
- Answer incoming calls, schedule appointments, and route messages appropriately
- Verify patient demographics, insurance, and referral information
- Collect copayments and outstanding balances; issue receipts and balance payments
- Accurately enter and update patient information in the EMR system
- Schedule follow-up appointments and ensure complete visit documentation
- Prepare charts and maintain accurate, timely documentation
- Collaborate with clinical and billing teams regarding patient needs
- Maintain a clean, organized front desk and waiting area
- Assist with scanning, filing, and administrative tasks as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Medical office or front desk experience preferred
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Proficiency with computers and EMR systems
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
