QUALIFICATIONS

The candidates for these positions must be at least 21 years old. Teachers shall hold a Baccalaureate Degree or

CDA. Preference will be given to those certified in Early Childhood Education and those with previous preschool

teaching experience.

RESPONSBILITIES

Attends all required Open Houses after summer/fall school year begins

Establishes rapport with the home during drop off, telephone calls and conferences, when necessary,

newsletters, and other means of communication using Brightwheel

Creates monthly lesson plans that incorporate the themes for the month as well as social/emotional skills +

educational activities.

Shows a willingness to pursue any special needs a child may have, such as working with health clinics, child

psychologists, speech therapists, etc.

Keeps necessary records on student attendance, performance, and activities using Brightwheel

Communicates with administration when necessary regarding child's behavior

Works with administration to develop an appropriate behavior plan

Works with instructional staff to implement the CDC's curriculum

Assists in opening and closing the classroom on a daily basis.

Manages the classroom of children and supervises the instructional assistants in appropriate age groups

Communicates expectations and roles of each team member

Works as a team with the instructional assistants, other teachers, and the director.

Communicates expectations with substitute teachers

Assists with meals and snacks.

Assists with setting up and putting away playground equipment.

Keeps sidewalk and play areas clear of debris

Neatly stores toys in the shed or storage lockers and locks them at the end of the day

Locks all outside doors as part of the closing procedures

If the weather looks inclement after the end of the day, clean up toys earlier to prevent them from getting wet

Meets with the supervisor during nap or break time to discuss classroom planning.

Talks, sings, and reads to children frequently

Responds quickly in a soothing and tender manner when a child cries or is in distress.
