The Custodian at Immanuel Lutheran Church & School plays a key role in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, church members, families, and visitors. This position supports both the school and church by ensuring facilities are well cared for, functional, and ready for daily activities, worship services, and special events.

The ideal candidate is dependable, self-motivated, and takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and care. This role is well-suited for someone who enjoys hands-on work, notices details, and values being part of a faith-based community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform daily cleaning and general upkeep of classrooms, offices, restrooms, common areas, and worship spaces
• Set up and take down rooms for school functions, church services, and special events
• Respond promptly to spills, messes, and urgent cleaning or maintenance needs
• Perform minor repairs, basic maintenance, and light handyman tasks as needed
• Monitor building conditions and report larger maintenance issues when identified
• Ensure facilities meet safety, cleanliness, and appearance standards

Qualifications & Skills:

• Prior custodial, facilities, or maintenance experience preferred
• Ability to work independently and manage daily responsibilities with minimal supervision
• General handyman or maintenance skills are a strong plus (e.g., minor repairs, light landscaping, basic upkeep)
• Reliable, punctual, and physically able to perform job duties
• Comfortable working in a Christian church and school environment
