• Location: Roanoke, VA 24014 (Virginia healthcare jobs)
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (Travel RN contract)
• Unit: Neuro ICU (7S NCC ICU)
• Start Date: September 8, 2025
• End Date: September 7, 2026 (13-week minimum, up to 52 weeks)
• Shift: 3x12-hour nights (18:45 – 07:15); 4x12 available
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1800-$1840
• Patient Ratio: 1:2
• Facility: Large Level I/II Trauma Center
• Unit Beds: 12
• Weekend Coverage: Required

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered RN license (Registered Nurse)
• Minimum 1 year of recent ICU experience; Neuro ICU experience preferred
• Experience in Level I or II trauma facilities required
• Epic EMR charting experience required
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Willingness to work at least 1 holiday per 13-week contract (2 during winter holidays)
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Travel nurses must reside at least 100 miles from the facility (exceptions for 50-99.9 miles)

ICU Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, evidence-based care to adult patients with neurological conditions (stroke, neurosurgery, spinal injuries)
• Manage advanced neurocritical interventions: EVDs, therapeutic hypothermia, ICP monitoring
• Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, IV sedation, and paralytics
• Interpret ABGs, dysrhythmias, and manage ventilated patients
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, social services)
• Maintain strict infection prevention and isolation protocols
• Document patient care accurately using Epic EMR
• Participate in orientation and required training modules
