Physician - Clinic Chief Primary Care (Fredericksburg)

Summary

Deputy Chief of Primary Care and/or the Associate Chief of Staff Primary Care to provide professional and administrative leadership for the Primary Care Clinic that they supervise. The Clinic Chief has responsibilities for staffing, work assignments, budget, clinical services provided, and day-to-day program operations. Collateral assignments will be decided at the discretion of the Deputy Chief of Primary Care and/or the Associate Chief of Staff Primary Care.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensing may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the requirements at their initial appointment are deemed qualified. The applicant must be Board Certified.

Basic Requirements:

• United States Citizenship (non-citizens only if recruitment of qualified citizens is not possible)
• Degree of doctor of medicine or equivalent from an approved school
• Current unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the US
• Completed residency training approved by the VA, leading to eligibility for board certification
• Residents enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited programs are eligible as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs)
• Proficiency in spoken and written English
• Meet physical and mental/sensory requirements as specified

Duties

Responsibilities include leadership and management of clinic services, developing and implementing systems and guidelines, supervising staff, providing administrative and clinical oversight, and participating in facility-wide initiatives. The Clinic Chief will work closely with the Deputy Chief of Primary Care and may represent the service on committees, analyze service quality, and develop performance guidelines. The role involves supervising an inter-professional team, managing personnel functions, establishing performance expectations, providing feedback, ensuring staff training, resolving grievances, and advising staff on administrative matters. Work schedule is full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
