Job Summary

The Chocker is responsible for safely securing vehicles within transportation carriers to ensure proper positioning and stability during transit. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, outdoor environment aligned with rail schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Secure vehicles within carriers by accurately placing and removing wheel chocks.
• Precisely position automobiles inside carriers to meet safety and transport requirements.
• Chock and strap vehicles in accordance with established operational procedures.
• Remove chocks and straps upon vehicle arrival at designated terminals.
• Consistently wear and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Take personal responsibility for safety while performing all job duties.
• Complete work using written assignment sheets and sign off on completed tasks.
• Read, interpret, and follow operational manuals, safety rules, and procedures.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Frequent use of hands for handling, gripping, and reaching.
• Capability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed.
• Ability to lift and move up to 40lbs regularly and up to 80lbs occasionally .

Work Environment

• Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions.
• Occasional exposure to airborne particles.
• Moderate noise levels typical of rail and yard operations.
• Must be comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.

Schedule & Availability

• Willingness to work in all weather conditions and at varying hours to support train arrivals and departures.
• Flexibility to work odd hours and/or split shifts, including days, nights, and weekends.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lorton, VA.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Lorton,VA.
