Responsibilities You Will Undertake
  • Performing thorough patient evaluations, recommending diagnostic tests, and developing customized care strategies
  • Diagnosing and managing acute, chronic, or episodic health issues independently or in coordination with physicians, depending on your qualifications
  • Educating patients and their families on health maintenance, illness prevention, and disease management
  • Prescribing medications and treatments within your professional scope
  • Engaging in patient follow-up and managing chronic conditions effectively
  • Working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive, holistic care
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed documentation in electronic medical records (EMR)
Educational Background Required
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
  • Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
Certifications Needed
  • Valid Nurse Practitioner license in Virginia
  • National certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C, AANP or ANCC) or specialty equivalent
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications (or ability to acquire within 90 days)
