Job Title: Senior Accountant & Financial Analyst
Department: Accounting
Reports To: Senior Controller
Position Overview
The Senior Accountant and Financial Analyst plays a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records, performing detailed financial analysis, and supporting reporting functions critical to the organization’s success. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, organized professional to contribute to the company’s financial health, collaborate across departments, and engage in impactful projects. You will have direct exposure to senior leadership, including the EVP of Finance and Chief Financial & Administrative Officer, offering valuable career development prospects.
Key Responsibilities
General Ledger Management & Month-End Closing:
- Support the month-end closing process by reconciling assigned accounts and reviewing transactions for accuracy.
- Prepare and post general journal entries as required.
- Reconcile bank and account statements to ensure consistency and accuracy.
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Conduct revenue and expense analysis to provide insights for management decision-making.
- Support the year-end audit process by preparing schedules and facilitating auditors’ review.
- Contribute to the annual budget development and ongoing financial planning.
- Perform ad hoc financial analyses as needed.
Department and Cross-Functional Support:
- Prepare detailed schedules and research issues to resolve discrepancies.
- Collaborate daily with Staff Accountants, Accounts Payable, Controllers, and Accounting Systems staff.
- Provide backup support for team members to ensure seamless operations.
- Participate in special projects and process improvements.
- Assist in training new team members when required.
Additional Duties:
- Demonstrate proactive teamwork and a commitment to organizational success.
- Take initiative to identify areas for process improvement and efficiency.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned to support the accounting department.
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with a minimum GPA of 3.3.
- 3-5 years of accounting experience, including general ledger management and audit participation.
- 1-2 years of public accounting experience strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and general ledger processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with Great Plains or similar ERP systems is a plus.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Demonstrates professionalism, honesty, patience, and adherence to established procedures.
- Ability to lift approximately 15–20 lbs as needed.
