Position Title: Payroll Specialist

Location: Gainesville, VA (Onsite)

Assignment Type: Permanent Hire

Compensation: $75,000 – $80,000 / Annually

Work Schedule: M-F 9-5

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join a collaborative HR team and take ownership of the full-cycle payroll process. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll for a large, multi-state employee population, while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process full-cycle, multi-state payroll on a weekly basis for a large employee population
• Review and reconcile payroll data, including timesheets, earnings, and deductions
• Manage payroll discrepancies and perform regular reconciliations with the general ledger
• Administer garnishments, levies, and other wage-related deductions in compliance with regulations
• Handle federal and state payroll tax filings and ensure timely reporting
• Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2s and 1099s
• Generate and analyze payroll reports to support internal decision-making
• Conduct payroll audits to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries and provide clear, professional communication
• Assist with payroll system updates and process improvements

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of full-cycle payroll experience
• Experience processing multi-state payroll for large employee populations (400+ employees)
• Strong knowledge of payroll taxes, garnishments, and compliance regulations
• Experience with payroll systems (UKG Ready preferred)
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Ability to communicate effectively across various employee groups
• Team-oriented with a proactive and dependable work style
