Freeze Blast Operator

Job Title: Freeze Blast Operator Department: Cold Storage Operations Reports To: Operations Manager Job Type: Full-time / Shift-based

Position Summary:

The Freeze Blast Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring blast freezing equipment to ensure the rapid freezing of perishable goods in accordance with company safety, quality, and efficiency standards. This role requires working in sub-zero temperatures and handling products with strict adherence to food safety and cold chain compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and monitor blast freezer systems, including startup, shutdown, and temperature control.
• Load and unload products into and out of blast freezers according to product-specific freezing protocols.
• Inspect products for proper packaging and labeling prior to freezing.
• Document freezing cycles and maintain accurate records of product temperatures, times, and freezer performance.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations, including HACCP, GMPs, and OSHA.
• Conduct routine equipment checks and perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance tasks.
• Coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams to prioritize product flow and maintain inventory accuracy.
• Report equipment malfunctions or product quality issues to the supervisor promptly.
• Follow all PPE and safety protocols required for working in a sub-zero environment.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Previous experience in a cold storage or food processing environment (1+ year preferred).
• Basic mechanical skills and familiarity with industrial refrigeration systems is a plus.
• Ability to operate forklifts or pallet jacks (certification preferred).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Must be able to work in cold temperatures (-10°F to -20°F) for extended periods.
• Good physical condition; able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive tasks.

Work Environment:

• Constant exposure to cold/freezing temperatures.
• Requires wearing insulated PPE and adhering to cold storage safety protocols.
• Fast-paced, physically demanding environment with time-sensitive operations.
