Transmission Line Engineer Senior
A Transmission Line Engineer Senior is needed for a world class utility company in the Roanoke, VA area. This role requires at least 6 years of transmission line engineering experience and a bachelor's degree to serve as a lead technical expert and mentor, utilizing proficiency in PLS CADD and NESC standards to oversee complex design projects, manage budgets, and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams. location: Roanoke, Virginia

- Exhibit journey level proficiency and advanced knowledge to serve as a leader within the organization.
- Stay current on new products, developments, technologies, procedures, and equipment.
- Analyze interrelationships between systems and component equipment.
- Interpret codes and regulations to develop relevant standards for the assigned area.
- Provide guidance and direction to other engineers using professional judgment and discretion.
- Lead and coordinate work activities across teams, departments, and external entities.
- Ensure all work complies with company policies, practices, standards, and external regulations.
- Promote engineering professionalism and conduct technical training sessions.
- Develop project plans by establishing measurable goals and objectives.
- Coordinate input for projected project costs and manage budget activities.
- Utilize scheduling techniques such as CPM, PERT, and flow charts for planning.
- Identify and initiate corrective actions when project objectives are not met.
- Resolve complex problems involving inadequate or conflicting data.
- Divide large problems into manageable component steps.
- Develop new ideas and approaches to improve engineering opportunities.
- Prepare clear and concise technical reports for management and regulatory bodies.
- Lead and facilitate effective meetings and coordinate engineering staff.
- Use collaborative and consensus-building skills to function as a team leader.
- Network across various disciplines inside and outside the company to achieve goals.
- Make decisions based on the analysis of uncertain inputs and outcomes.
- Handle conflicting interests regarding project approaches or studies.
- Assess risks of decisions and act accordingly to protect department operations.
- Manage project budgets using cost management techniques.
- Align business decisions with company goals and competitive positioning.
- Transmission Line engineering experience is strictly required.
- Function as a Lead Subject Matter Expert on multiple technical topics.
- Mentor and train personnel as requested by the organization.
- Apply knowledge of transmission line design, structure modeling, and profile development.
- Apply National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and current industry standards.
- Maintain high proficiency with PLS CADD line design software.
- Apply prior experience in structural design, foundation design, or surveying if applicable.
- Typically requires 6 or more years of Transmission Line engineering experience with an ABET-accredited Bachelor's degree.
- Alternatively requires 4 years of experience with a Master's degree or PhD in engineering.
- Acceptable alternative is a non-ABET degree combined with a Professional Engineers license.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in any U.S. state is encouraged and preferred.
- Degree must be from a program accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.
