General: Full-time position (exempt) at forty (40) hours per week. Compensation is based upon

Defined:
The Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) at FAHASS provides comprehensive mental health
and psychosocial services across two distinct service tracks: Ryan White Part B-funded
psychosocial support for uninsured and underinsured people living with HIV (PLWH), and
billable outpatient psychotherapy services for insured patients at the Mosaic Care Center. The
LCSW serves as the lead mental health clinician for the organization, providing direct services,
clinical supervision to staff/interns working toward licensure, and oversight of peer support
programming. This position plays a critical role in advancing integrated, whole-person care for
LGBTQ+ individuals, PLWH, and other underserved communities within the FAHASS continuum
of care.
Employment Standards:
Current, unencumbered Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license in the
Commonwealth of Virginia required.
Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program required.
Minimum of two (2) years of post-licensure clinical experience in mental health,
behavioral health, or a related setting preferred.
Experience providing clinical services to people living with HIV/AIDS, LGBTQ+ individuals,
or other medically underserved populations strongly preferred.
Experience with third-party billing, insurance credentialing, and managed care
documentation required or willingness to obtain prior to service delivery.
Experience providing clinical supervision to unlicensed or provisionally licensed clinicians
preferred.
Familiarity with Ryan White Part B program requirements and psychosocial service
definitions preferred.
Experience with electronic health record (EHR) and practice management systems;
proficiency with TherapyNotes or similar behavioral health platform preferred.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a benefit.
Key Responsibilities Include the Following:
Ryan White Psychosocial Support Services
Provide individual supportive counseling (non-psychotherapeutic) to uninsured and
underinsured Ryan White-eligible PLWH, consistent with Virginia's Ryan White Part B
Psychosocial Support service category definitions, including:
Emotional support related to HIV diagnosis, disclosure, and stigma.
Assistance with coping with HIV-related stress, grief, loss, and life adjustment.
Support for treatment adherence and engagement in HIV medical care.
Crisis intervention and safety planning as needed.
Referral to and coordination with community mental health, substance use
treatment, and other support services.
Provide or oversee caregiver support services related to the client's HIV care, including
psychoeducation, emotional support, and referral for caregivers of PLWH.
Facilitate or oversee HIV-related support groups, including planning, facilitation,
documentation, and evaluation of group effectiveness.
Oversee peer support and peer navigation services focused on the emotional and social
adjustment of PLWH, including:
Supervision and support of peer navigators or peer specialists within the scope of
their role.
Development of peer support programming in alignment with Ryan White
guidelines and best practices.
Coordination with case management and clinical staff to integrate peer support
within the broader care team.
Confirm Ryan White eligibility for psychosocial services clients and ensure timely
documentation and recertification in coordination with program staff.
Screen clients for mental health, substance use, and psychosocial needs using
standardized tools (e.g., PHQ-9, GAD-7, AUDIT-C) and document results appropriately.
Complete all required documentation for Ryan White psychosocial services in CAREWare,
including service contacts, referrals, and outcome data, per VDH reporting standards.
Contribute to monthly and quarterly Ryan White grant reports, performance measure
tracking, and programmatic workplan goals.
Outpatient Psychotherapy Services (Insured Patients)
Provide individual outpatient psychotherapy to insured patients at Mosaic Care Center,
including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and evidence-based therapeutic
intervention.
Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and develop individualized
treatment plans reflecting the patient's presenting needs, goals, strengths, and barriers.
Deliver evidence-based therapeutic modalities appropriate to the patient population,
including but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational
Interviewing (MI), trauma-informed care, and other person-centered approaches.
Maintain diagnostic accuracy using the current edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical
Manual (DSM), including documentation of appropriate diagnostic codes.
Conduct ongoing mental status assessments, monitor treatment response, and adjust
treatment plans as clinically indicated.
Perform risk assessments and develop safety plans for patients presenting with suicidal
ideation, self-harm, or other safety concerns; coordinate crisis intervention as needed.
Collaborate with the Nurse Practitioner and Mosaic Care Center clinical team to provide
integrated, coordinated behavioral health care within the primary care setting.
Coordinate with external psychiatrists, prescribers, and behavioral health providers for
co-management of complex cases, medication consultation, or step-up care as needed.
Billing, Documentation & Compliance
Ensure accurate and timely billing for all insured psychotherapy services, including
correct use of CPT codes, diagnostic codes, and modifier usage consistent with payer
requirements.
Maintain complete, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in TherapyNotes for all
services rendered, including intake assessments, progress notes, treatment plans,
discharge summaries, and coordination of care notes.
Complete clinical documentation within the timeframes required by payer agreements,
FAHASS policy, and applicable licensure board standards.
Participate in insurance credentialing and re-credentialing processes as required to
maintain in-network status with payers.
Maintain familiarity with payer-specific coverage policies, prior authorization
requirements, and billing rules for behavioral health services.
Coordinate with FAHASS billing staff to resolve claim issues, payer rejections, or
documentation deficiencies in a timely manner.
Ensure all services are documented and delivered in compliance with HIPAA privacy and
security requirements.
Clinical Supervision
Provide individual clinical supervision to mental health counselors or social workers
working toward licensure (e.g., LCSW-A, Resident in Counseling), consistent with Virginia
Board of Social Work and Virginia Board of Counseling supervision requirements.
Conduct regularly scheduled supervision sessions, document supervision contacts, and
complete required supervision records and attestation forms.
Review supervisee caseloads, session recordings or notes, and clinical decision-making to
ensure quality, safety, and ethical practice.
Provide guidance on case conceptualization, treatment planning, clinical documentation,
professional development, and ethical challenges.
Evaluate supervisee competencies and performance and communicate concerns to the
Programs Manager as needed.
Maintain supervision agreements consistent with Virginia licensure board requirements.
Integrated Care & Team Collaboration
Participate actively in interdisciplinary care team meetings, case conferences, and clinical
huddles to ensure coordinated, whole-person care.
Serve as a clinical resource and consultant to case managers, outreach staff, and other
FAHASS team members on mental health, behavioral health, and psychosocial topics.
Collaborate with HIV care and Mosaic Care Center staff to identify and address patient
mental health and substance use needs as part of routine care.
Provide consultation on trauma-informed care, culturally affirming practice, and LGBTQ+
mental health to support organizational capacity.
Participate in staff meetings, all-hands sessions, and organizational events as required.
Professional Practice & Development
Maintain current LCSW licensure in good standing with the Virginia Board of Social Work,
including all continuing education requirements.
Adhere to the NASW Code of Ethics and all applicable professional, legal, and
organizational standards of practice.
Maintain appropriate professional liability (malpractice) insurance coverage.
Engage in ongoing professional development related to HIV mental health, LGBTQ+
affirming care, trauma-informed practice, and evidence-based behavioral health
interventions.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, outcome tracking, and program evaluation
efforts.
Additional Requirements:
Demonstrated commitment to affirming, trauma-informed, culturally responsive mental
health practice for LGBTQ+ individuals, people living with HIV, and other underserved
communities.
Ability to maintain professional boundaries and manage complex clinical situations with
sound ethical judgment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including clinical documentation,
client communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Proficiency with TherapyNotes or comparable behavioral health EHR platform; ability to
learn and navigate CAREWare and other organizational data systems.
Ability to manage an independent caseload while contributing to a multidisciplinary
team.
Possession of a valid state driver's license may be required for some activities.
Occasional evening availability may be required for support group programming or client
access.
Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times and work effectively within a team
framework.
Perform other duties as requested by the Executive Director in support of FAHASS
policies and mission.
