Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated HR Generalist to join our dynamic Human Resources team. The successful candidate will have 5 to 7 years of progressive HR experience, preferably within the midstream oil and gas sector or a related industrial environment. This role will be instrumental in supporting our operational teams, ensuring the effective delivery of HR programs and services, and contributing to the overall success of the organization.
Job Description
- The HR Generalist will be responsible for a wide range of HR functions, including employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, compensation and benefits administration, HR policy interpretation and compliance, and HRIS data management.
- This role requires a strong understanding of HR best practices, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Employee Relations:
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employees and managers on HR-related inquiries, providing guidance and support on HR policies, procedures, and programs.
- Conduct employee relations investigations, including disciplinary actions, grievances, and complaints, ensuring fair and consistent application of company policies and legal compliance.
- Provide coaching and counseling to managers and employees on performance improvement, conflict resolution, and other workplace issues.
- Talent Acquisition & Onboarding:
- Collaborate with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and develop effective recruitment strategies for various roles within midstream operations (e.g., engineers, operators, technicians, project managers).
- Manage the full recruitment lifecycle from job posting and sourcing to interviewing, offer extension, and background checks.
- Oversee and enhance the new hire onboarding process to ensure smooth and effective integration for new employees.
- Performance Management:
- Support the annual performance management cycle, including goal setting, performance reviews, and talent calibration.
- Provide guidance to managers on effective performance feedback and development plans.
- Assist in identifying training and development needs to enhance employee skills and capabilities.
- Compensation & Benefits:
- Administer compensation and benefits programs, including payroll input, benefits enrollment, leave management, and responding to employee inquiries.
- Assist in compensation, benchmarking and analysis to ensure competitive pay practices.
- Collaborate with benefits providers and brokers to ensure effective plan administration.
- HR Policy & Compliance:
- Interpret and apply HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations relevant to the midstream sector (e.g., DOT, OSHA regulations related to pipeline operations).
- Assist in developing and updating HR policies and procedures as needed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and HR documentation.
- HRIS Management:
- Utilize and maintain the HR Information System (HRIS) for accurate data entry, reporting, and analysis.
- Generate HR reports and metrics to support business decisions.
- Other Duties:
- Participate in HR projects and initiatives as assigned.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Stay current on HR trends and best practices, particularly within the energy industry.
Skills Required
- 5 to 7 years of progressive HR Generalist experience, with a strong preference for experience in the midstream oil and gas sector, heavy industrial manufacturing, or a similar operations-focused environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Proven experience in employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, and HR policy administration.
- Strong understanding of HRIS systems (experience with [mention specific HRIS if applicable, e.g., Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, ADP] is a plus).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Exceptional interpersonal and active listening skills, with a strong customer service orientation.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Preferred Qualifications:
- HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR).
- Experience supporting geographically dispersed teams.
- Familiarity with DOT regulations and other industry-specific compliance requirements.
- Physical Requirements:
- Primarily sedentary work, but may involve occasional walking, standing, and lifting of light objects (up to 10 lbs).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment.
Education/Training/Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
