Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

• Location: Charlottesville, Virginia (22908) – Virginia nursing jobs
• Unit: 6 North Intermediate Care – Cardiac Stepdown
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (potential extension through 01/03/2026)
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (19:00 – 07:00), 3 shifts per week
• Hours per Week: 36 (option for 48 hours available)
• Start Date: 09/02/2025
• Patient Ratio: 1:3
• Setting: Intermediate Care, 12-bed unit
• Schedule: Every other weekend and holiday required
• Time Off: Guaranteed up to 40 hours per contract
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1800 - $1840

Travel RN Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a Registered Nurse in stepdown, intermediate care, or similar clinical setting
• Active RN license (Virginia or compact state; pending accepted but must be in hand before start)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required (can be pending at submission)
• Epic EMR experience required
• BSN preferred
• Ability to float within scope of practice as needed
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
• Professional references required

Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients with complex cardiac and neurological conditions, including neuro trauma, stroke, post-neurosurgery, and post-cardiac procedures
• Monitor and manage patients requiring intermediate level care, including telemetry, arterial line management, and non-invasive airway support
• Administer medications, blood products, and manage drips (no titration required)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, respiratory, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response
• Document patient care accurately using Epic EMR
• Adhere to hospital policies, including float policy and infection control protocols
• Participate in patient and family education and support
• Work every other weekend and holiday as scheduled
