Working Title: Criminal Justice Trainer and Instructor

Review approve or deny all new training school applications.
Serve as an internal training consultant to private security services training school applicants and credential holders.
Work with constituents and coworkers to identify training needs and solutions.
Monitor inspect and audit performance of training school facilities curricula documents and personnel for regulatory compliance and/or corrective actions.
Review and process all manual and automated records of all training related applications submitted to the division.
Select and use appropriate training/instructional methods and procedures.
Coordinate instructor training including firearm training.
Create and deliver professional development via classroom online instructor-led and self-paced learning methods.
Develop and use assessment tools to measure the success of training and development programs and identify opportunities for improvement.
Provide program assistance to program applicants as necessary and appropriate.
Work with the management team on developing statutory and regulatory programs under the authority of the division.
Review training waiver requests to determine whether applicants qualify for exemptions according to Virginia Code and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience presenting complex information in an understandable way to diverse audiences.
Exposure to utilizing a variety of adult training methods tools and techniques in the delivery of instructional programs.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Professional exposure to the development and delivery of adult learning and/or training.
Experience in program planning and development conducting needs assessments and/or conducting program evaluation.
Experience working both independently and as a contributing team member.
Demonstrated knowledge of handling difficult people in a professional manner.
Ability to think strategically and cross culturally and to independently implement new initiatives and projects.
Ability to articulate both orally and in written form clear and concise program objectives and goals.
Experience meeting critical deadlines handling multiple assignments changing priorities and ensuring timeliness and quality of completed assignments.
Ability to occasionally travel day and overnight.
Additional Considerations
Experience working with automated systems such as learning management and/or credentialing systems.
Experience working with confidential documents and information.
Special Instructions
Interview candidates may be required to demonstrate the skills and abilities necessary for satisfactory performance of work. The candidate selected for the position must successfully complete a criminal background investigation and complete and submit a Form I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification) which will be entered into the Federal E-Verify system to confirm identity and work authorization. The individual may also be responsible for submitting an annual Statement of Personal Economic addition the selected candidate who begins original employment or re-employment in this position must serve a 12-month probationary period effective from the date of employment. The starting salary range is $79000 to $86000 plus the states benefits package.
