PACU RN Job Details – Roanoke, VA

• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1910–$1960
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Healthcare Setting: PACU supporting main OR (inpatient, outpatient, endoscopy, ICU, vascular, OB, cardiac, interventional radiology patients)
• Shifts: 3x12-hour shifts per week (Day: 08:00–20:30, 09:00–21:30, 06:45–19:15; Night: 18:45–07:15)
• Weekly Hours: 36
• Patient Ratios: 2:1 (Days, Nights, Weekends)
• Start Date: September 8, 2025
• End Date: December 8, 2025
• Weekend Coverage: Required
• Orientation: 36 hours

PACU RN Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Virginia or compact state
• Minimum 1 year of recent PACU and ICU experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS (CCRN and NIHSS preferred)
• Proficiency with EPIC charting system required
• Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Ability to work at least one holiday during the assignment (two holidays during winter)
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Must reside more than 100 miles from facility (local candidates not accepted)

PACU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia in a fast-paced PACU environment
• Care for diverse patient populations: adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics
• Support a variety of surgical specialties: trauma, ICU, bariatric, breast, colorectal, dental, emergency general surgery, ENT, gastroenterology, gynecology, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, orthopedics, podiatry, pulmonology, urology, and more
• Utilize advanced clinical skills: airway assessment, central/arterial line management, blood product administration, pain management, and post-operative monitoring
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, and rapid response
• Document patient care accurately using EPIC EMR
• Participate in volunteer call coverage as needed
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies and complete required orientation and training modules
