Responsible Charge Engineer
Overview
ATCS is growing! We are looking for a Responsible Charge Engineer to join our Construction Services team in our Herndon location to oversee major transportation projects during the construction phase. The ideal candidate will hold a Professional Engineer (PE) license in VA and possess a strong commitment to ensuring compliance, safety, and quality in all aspects of project execution.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the direct and personal supervision of engineering activities during construction.
- Ensure projects are constructed in strict accordance with contract documents and specifications.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation to demonstrate compliance with:
- Project requirements
- Applicable federal and state regulations
- Safety and environmental standards
- Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including VDOT staff, local government agencies, consultants and the public.
- Prepare project correspondence and progress reports for client approval and support project meetings.
- Provide timely and articulate communication between necessary parties that furthers the project and helps meet client’s goals.
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field is required.
- Professional Engineer’s license is required, preferably in VA. Will consider other states with the commitment of obtaining a Virginia PE within 6 months of starting employment.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience on large, complex transportation construction projects, preferably in VA.
- Familiarity with AASHTO, VDOT and regional design standards, practices and policies
- Excellent oral, written, communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in relevant software applications, such as Microsoft Office suite and construction management software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Compensation and Benefits
Our employees are the most critical part of ATCS. For this position, we offer a competitive salary range of $110,000 to $145,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The role is also eligible for an annual bonus, with a target 2% of the employee's annualized salary. In addition to compensation, ATCS offers outstanding, employee-focused benefits for you and your family.
