Senior Platform Engineer

Location: Sterling, Virginia

Work Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Travel: Up to 10% to other customer sites

Security Clearance: TS/SCI w/ CI Poly required

Salary: $140,000 - $150,000 annually (negotiable)

Job Responsibilities

• Maintain systems using Linux-based tools and manage COTS/FOSS software to support program needs
• Ensure computer, network, and storage resources are mission-ready
• Deploy new system baselines (OS, software, network, and storage configurations)
• Support Echelon 1 (E1) activities for troubleshooting across software, servers, networking, storage, and cloud environments
• Apply O&M patches and baseline updates
• Contribute to enterprise-level integration efforts
• Document defects in customer and program databases
• Participate in technical interchange meetings with operators, partners, and customers
• Provide occasional off-hours support via call-in rotation
• Travel to customer sites or factory for updates, deliveries, and troubleshooting

Required Qualifications

• BS/BA in STEM (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, IT, or Physics)
• Minimum 5 years of related experience
• Proficiency with VMware: vCenter and ESXi
• Linux system administration (RHEL/OL preferred)
• LDAP administration (user/group management)

Preferred Qualifications

• Bash scripting
• Hardware maintenance (troubleshooting, FRU replacement)
• Out-of-band management (iDRAC, terminal server concentrators)
• Dell and Cisco hardware experience
• NTP (Network Time Protocol)
• Smart PDU (Power Distribution Units)
• NFS and DNS administration
• LAN and firewall networking (Cisco preferred)
• General experience with Nagios
• Microsoft Windows OS familiarity
• SAN and NAS administration
