Assistant Boys Basketball Coach

Position Summary:
The assistant coach position is filled by someone who believes in and embodies our philosophy of education such that his or her coaching cultivates within students a love for the sport. The assistant coach will be responsible for helping the head coach in developing a mastery of the content, relevant skill sets, and habits needed to develop such a love within the players.

Position Reporting Responsibility:
This is a part-time position reporting directly to the Athletic Coordinator

Position Requirements/Qualifications:
Anyone who is seeking this position at EHA must:
● Agree with the EHA statement of religious beliefs
● Embody EHA's mission, vision, core values and philosophy of education
● Prioritize relationships through effective communication and collaboration within our diverse community
● Experience as a head coach and as a player (preferable)
● First aid and CPR certification or eligibility for certification

Position Work Schedule
● 4 month position ( November 1st - February 28th)
● 12-18 hour weeks depending on game/practice schedule
● Generally, practices and games will be held on Monday - Thursday. Fridays will be off.

Position Compensation
● The stipend for the position will depend on the amount of time and responsibility committed to. This can be discussed with the Athletic Director upon submission of application.

Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
● Supervision
○ Assist Head Coach in supervision of all practices and games of EHA Winter Season
○ Assist Head Coach in supervision of student athletes after school when at games or when on the road to games
○ Assist Head Coach in supervision of the student athletes when waiting for pickup for rides home
● Planning
○ In conjunction with the Head Coach and Athletic Director plan goals for the teams
○ Assist Head Coach to create plans for individual skill development, team concepts, team drills, etc.
○ Review athletic scheduling with Head Coach to ensure you can attend and supervise all games and practices
○ Coordinate with Head Coach to plan for athletic award ceremonies
● Transportation
○ Assist in coordinating and executing transportation for all basketball team travel, including travel dates, number traveling, and departure and return times
● Coach and Student Athlete Recruitment
○ Work with Head Coach and AD on recruitment strategies to get players to come to EHA
● Athletic Events
○ Be present or arrange for a substitute to be present at all games and practices
○ Work with the Head Coach to coordinate duties for all home games including ticket and concession salesman, bookkeeper, ball boys, etc.
○ Arrange for the availability of first aid kits at all practices and games
○ Encourage and instruct athletes, students, and fans in good sportsmanship
● Administrative Duties
○ Assist in reporting and documenting all athletic injuries.
○ Assist in making sure that stat books and records are up to date and accurate
● Communication
○ Work with the Head Coach to promote and model good sportsmanship and maintain an active program that welcomes
competing teams, guests, and game officials.
● Supplies, Equipment, and Uniforms
○ Work with the Head Coach to keep supplies, equipment, and uniforms in satisfactory condition, and communicate the need for new and replacement supplies, equipment, and uniforms when necessary.
○ Inspect all athletic areas for cleanliness and the proper storage of all athletic supplies, equipment, and uniforms.
○ Help to oversee the return of all equipment, unused supplies, and uniforms using a checklist at the end of the season.
