Summary/Objective
The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant serves as a therapy assistant to a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, carrying out the plans of care with clients under the supervision of the SLP.

Screenings & Assessments
- Assist with speech, language, and hearing screenings without clinical interpretation of results.
- Assist during assessment of a client exclusive of administration or interpretation.
Specific Duties
- Perform activities for treatment sessions that are routine and do not require professional judgment, following the plan of care developed by the SLP and as directed by the supervising SLP who retains the professional responsibility for the client.
- Document each client's performance and report information to the supervising SLP.
- Assist with programming augmentative and alternative communication devices and assist the client in repetitive use of such devices.
- Create and sign treatment notes and submit to supervising SLP for approval and co-signing.
- Upon request, co-sign other documents with the supervising SLP.
- Prepare materials.
- Schedule appointments and activities.
- Prepare charts, records, or graphs.
- Assist clients with transitioning to and from therapy sessions.
- Keep caseload up to date on the EMR system.
- Enter charges within 24 hours of date of service.
Other Duties
- Perform duties not otherwise restricted to the practice of speech-language pathology.
- Participate in projects related to therapy or to the vision of the company.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. Clinical staff dress code is required, which includes a turquoise or magenta top and black pants.
Expected Hours of Work
This role may be filled with full-time employees, part-time employees, or 1099 Contractors. Flexibility of hours is allowed. Depending on the caseload assignment, clinical staff may have an earlier start time or later end time. The specific hours of each clinician is determined in conjunction with the Client Services Manager.
Travel
This position may require frequent, even daily, travel to multiple treatment sites.
Required Education, Competencies, and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree, preferably in communication sciences.
- Documented training by a licensed SLP in topics related to the client population to be served; or
- Solid computer skills, (MS Office programs, internet, email, etc.)
Preferred Education and Experience
- Strong organizational skills
- CPR Certification
- Experience with HIPAA and OSHA requirements
- Experience with electronic medical records
