Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations within a non-profit organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting practices and a proven ability to meet tight deadlines. Responsibilities: - Oversee the month-end closing process to ensure timely and accurate completion. - Maintain and update the general ledger while ensuring compliance with accounting standards. - Prepare and post journal entries to reflect financial transactions. - Perform account reconciliations to verify accuracy and resolve discrepancies. - Conduct bank reconciliations to align financial records with bank statements. - Support audit processes by providing necessary documentation and reports. - Analyze financial data to identify trends and potential areas for improvement. - Utilize cloud-based ERP systems to manage financial operations efficiently. - Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting. - Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports. Requirements - Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting roles. - Proficiency in managing month-end close processes and general ledger maintenance. - Strong knowledge of journal entries and reconciliation procedures. - Experience with bank reconciliations and resolving discrepancies. - Familiarity with auditing processes and requirements. - Hands-on experience with cloud-based ERP systems. - Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. - Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
