Position Title: Senior Accountant

Location: Tysons Corner, VA (Onsite)

Assignment type: Contract-to-Permanent

Compensation: $50–$65/hr

Work Schedule: M-F 9-5

Job Description:

A growing organization in the professional services space is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its expanding finance team. This is a high-visibility opportunity for an accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys partnering cross-functionally to support financial operations and reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong general ledger experience, excellent analytical skills, and experience working in complex project-based accounting environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead month-end and year-end close activities
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports
• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes
• Support revenue recognition and project-based financial tracking
• Partner with operational leaders to review project financial performance
• Assist with internal and external audit requests and documentation
• Prepare and analyze indirect cost allocations and related reporting
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, policies, and internal controls
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and reporting efficiencies
• Utilize ERP/accounting systems and advanced Excel functions to manage and analyze financial data

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience working in project-based or service-oriented environments
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting processes
• ERP system experience required; experience with Unanet or Costpoint strongly preferred
• Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• CPA or CPA-track candidates are encouraged to apply
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams
• Ability to work onsite five days per week in Tysons Corner, VA
