AP Specialist
Kforce has a client in Chantilly, VA that is seeking an AP Specialist responsible for managing the full-cycle accounts payable process in a government contracting environment. This role ensures timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices, compliance with federal contract requirements, and proper documentation in accordance with internal controls and government regulations. Key Responsibilities:
- Process high-volume vendor invoices accurately and timely, ensuring proper approvals and documentation are obtained
- Review invoices for compliance with contract terms, funding source, and company policies
- Match invoices to purchase orders, receiving reports, and subcontract agreements as applicable
- Code invoices to appropriate general ledger accounts, projects, and cost objectives
- Ensure compliance with GovCon requirements (e.g., FAR, DCAA considerations)
- Manage vendor setup and maintenance, including W-9 collection and validation
- Respond to vendor inquiries regarding invoice and payment status
- Prepare and process weekly or bi-weekly payment runs (ACH, wire, check)
- Assist with month-end close activities, including AP accruals and reconciliation of AP subledger to general ledger
- Support internal and external audits by providing requested AP documentation
- Maintain organized electronic and physical invoice files in accordance with retention requirements
- 1-2 years of Accounts Payable experience or other accounting work
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
