Job Title: Laborer - Asphalt Milling - Hampton Roads
Department: Paving
Reports to: Paving Foreman
Major Role and Purpose :
- Performs various unskilled tasks that are associated with heavy highway asphalt milling construction operations.
Description of Duties :
- Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all federal, state, local and company safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
- Receive daily instruction from the project foreman and/or superintendent.
- Shoveling, raking, and spreading of stone, asphalt millings and debris.
- Backfilling, tamping, and leveling of stone and paving material.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the jobsite and all designated paving and milling areas as required.
- Assist other asphalt milling and paving crew members as needed.
- Perform all other duties deemed necessary or assigned.
Education:
- High School Diploma preferred.
Work Experience:
- Previous heavy highway milling / paving construction experience preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Job requires the following motions: stretching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, walking, standing, reaching, and squatting.
- Walking or standing may occupy the entire day.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Potential exposure to extremes of hot or cold weather.
- Overtime work is required.
- Valid Driver's License with transportation to and from job sites.
