Registered Nurse (RN) – Psychiatric Crisis Stabilization

Salary: $77,487 annually + $5,000 sign-on bonus

Shift Differential: $2.50/hour for evenings, nights, and weekends

Schedule: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM, Alternating weekends

Since 1971, the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board has provided essential, community-based services across the Peninsula. We serve individuals living with mental health conditions, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders through a comprehensive continuum of care.

In this position, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals during behavioral health emergencies. Working alongside a staff psychiatrist, you'll assist with medication prescribing, administration, and monitoring. You'll conduct thorough nursing and medical assessments to determine appropriate care and interventions.

Key responsibilities include developing and reviewing individualized care plans, ensuring safe medication practices, and coordinating medical services such as referrals and appointments. You will also provide crisis intervention, supportive counseling for clients and families, and respond to emergency situations as needed.

Your work will directly contribute to stabilizing individuals in crisis and improving overall community health outcomes.

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled nursing professional who thrives in a team-oriented setting. Ideal candidates will have:

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Virginia Board of Nursing
• At least one (1) year of experience in behavioral health
• Willingness to register as a QMHP-A trainee within 30 days of hire
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
• Experience or comfort with crisis intervention and psychiatric care
