Position: Outside Machinist J4

Job Location: Norfolk, VA

Hutco Branch: Portsmouth VA

Rate of Pay: $26 per hour

DESCRIPTION:

Currently seeking an Outside Machinist to work in Norfolk, VA. To be considered for this opportunity, you must have knowledge of equipment, work processes, and techniques used for this role including the ability to perform all functions of the position in conformity with applicable regulations and generally observed safety practices.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Outside Machinists applying for this position must have at least 2 years of experience.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen, pass drug test, Criminal Background and E-Verify.
• Personal Protective Equipment:

Hard Hat, Steel Toe Safety Boots, Safety Glasses, Gloves

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Can read and use tech manuals and blueprints and specification items
• Use and understand precision measuring instruments
• Should be able to work on any equipment shown below with close supervision.

• Experienced in machinery overhaul and installation and testing of all the following:

1. Winches (Electric driven* Electro hydraulic)
2. Anchor windlesses
3. Steering gear
4. Air compressors
5. Pump and motor alignments
6. Valve repairs
7. Diesel engine repairs
8. Hydraulic trouble shooting * repairs
9. Reduction gear repairs
10. Generator repairs
11. Boat davit repairs
12. Bearing fit-up & installation
13. Gas turbine repairs

• Propulsion experience of the following:
• Shafting repairs and alignment, fixed and controllable pitch
• Propellers removed and installed
• Rudders repair and installed

• Tool operation requirements:
• Operate grinder fixed and portable
• Operate drill presses fixed and portable
• Fixed presses
• Porta powers
• Hydraulic jacks
• Torches and torque wrenches

Assorted sizes of combination wrenches, socket sets, slip joint pliers, adjustable wrenches, wire pliers, hammers-ball pean and flat head, screw drivers (flat and phillips) vise grips, 6” scale- 12’ tape measure and snap ring pliers. Micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, pipe wrench, punch set, chisels and small mall.
