Material Handler
The Material Handler in the Shipping Department is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient movement of finished goods, including doors, windows, and specialty millwork products. This role ensures materials are properly staged, handled, and loaded for delivery while maintaining product quality and meeting shipment schedules. Key Responsibilities
- Move, stage, and prepare products for shipment within the warehouse and loading areas
- Safely handle doors, windows, and specialty products using designated carts and material handling equipment
- Operate carts specifically designed for the secure transport of windows and doors to prevent damage
- Load and unload trucks in accordance with shipping schedules and safety standards
- Verify product accuracy against pick tickets, packing lists, and shipping documents
- Inspect materials for damage or defects prior to shipment and report issues promptly
- Secure loads properly to ensure safe transport and minimize product damage
- Maintain clean and organized shipping and staging areas
- Assist with inventory movement and organization as needed
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including proper handling techniques for large or fragile items
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet daily shipping goals
- Ability to lift, carry, and move materials up to 75 lbs (team lift required for heavier items)
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the shift
- Ability to safely maneuver large, bulky, and fragile items such as doors and windows
- Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures
- Warehouse and shipping dock setting
- Fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Exposure to equipment, noise, and outdoor conditions during loading/unloading
- Strong focus on product care and damage prevention
- Reliability and ability to meet shipping deadlines
- Commitment to safety and teamwork
- Attention to detail in order accuracy and handling procedures
