Position Summary
This position is responsible for the supervision of all Quality Assurance functions to ensure that all policies, programs, and procedures are followed according to FSMA programs, Feed Safety, Regulatory Compliance, Sanitation, Laboratory Analysis, and Internal Quality programs and standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Have a working knowledge of all jobs in the feed mill
- Coordinate required sample collection and shipment to outside labs for analysis, assay, or activity levels.
- Perform NIR testing and biasing, mycotoxin testing, and purchase supplies for the lab. Schedule part-time labor for the lab to maintain timely testing as needed. Compile all assay data and test results for review by the live production team
- Maintain all records for FDA compliance, and NAE program verification
- Assist feed mill manager with DEQ, EPA, and OSHA recordkeeping and compliance requirements
- Maintain a good working relationship with the Nutritionist, Management, and Live Production personnel
- Perform % pellet tests, cooler moisture tests, and other measures to ensure feed quality and distribute results.
- Maintain feed mill FSMA program and mill GMPs to maintain FSMA regulation
- Maintain and update MTech and APEC systems with formulation changes and liquid usage parameters accurately
- Must have a clear knowledge of VPGC safety policies, and lead employees through applying proper safety techniques
- Assume the lead role in writing, training, and implementing FSMA policy and guidelines
- Assist Mill Manager with Daily Drug Reconciliations and other duties as needed.
- Other duties as assigned
- Must maintain an excellent attendance record
- Must follow all safety procedures and requirements; several safety training sessions are required including, but not limited to lock out/tag out, fall protection, power industrial truck, and confined space training
- Must be able to evaluate production process to determine sampling protocol and frequency
- Must be able to establish and implement policies without supervision
- Must maintain a high level of confidentiality
