Compensation

Emergency Room Nurse Job Details

• Location: Salem, VA 24153 (Virginia healthcare jobs)
• Facility: Cave Spring Freestanding Emergency Department (8 beds)
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens, travel nursing contract
• Start Date: October 6, 2025
• End Date: January 5, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Requirement: Rotating weekends (3 Friday/Saturday shifts per 4-week schedule)
• Holiday Coverage: Required
• Dress Code: Navy or white scrubs

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered RN license (Virginia nursing jobs)
• Minimum 1 year of recent emergency room (ER) nursing experience
• Current certifications: ACLS, PALS, BLS, TNCC
• Proficient in IV insertion, EKG interpretation, and patient assessment
• Experience with Meditech EMR preferred
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a clinical setting
• Outgoing, adaptable, and team-oriented personality
• Experience in freestanding ED and independent mixing of pharmacy drugs (Tpa, KCentra) preferred

ER Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality emergency nursing care to diverse patient populations
• Perform IV insertions, EKGs, and medication mixing as required
• Accurately scan and administer medications for every patient
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Meditech EMR
• Follow all unit guidelines, hospital policies, and safety protocols
• Demonstrate flexibility by working rotating weekends and holidays
