Sr. Information Systems Training Specialist

Candidate must be located in DMV area and able to commute to Stafford, VA office.

Our team provides focused agile software development and maintenance for CODIS, a mission-critical application for the FBI. Today, CODIS is a client server application developed using Microsoft .NET that supports a database repository of DNA profiles from individuals, unsolved crime scene evidence, and missing persons. CODIS software allows local, state, and national laboratories to compare DNA profiles electronically, thereby linking serial crimes to each other and identifying suspects by matching DNA profiles from crime scenes to individuals’ profiles. Additionally, the CODIS software is used to assist with the identification of unidentified human remains, missing persons and disaster victims

We are seeking a Sr. Information Systems Training Specialist to lead the design, development, and delivery of IT training programs for a global user community. This role requires expertise in instructional design, adult learning methodologies, and technical training delivery. The specialist will serve as a subject matter expert for IT training initiatives, ensuring that government agency personnel can effectively use information technologies and systems.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, design, and deliver computer-related training programs for end users.
• Analyze training and media requirements, developing tailored instructional objectives, test methods, and learning strategies.
• Create instructionally valid training materials, including computer-based training (CBT), web-based training (WBT), and electronic performance support systems.
• Develop flow diagrams, storyboards, and lesson plans across multiple delivery formats.
• Ensure technical accuracy of instructional content through collaboration with subject matter experts (SMEs) and IT teams.
• Maintain and update training materials to reflect new system functionalities and enhancements.
• Conduct training sessions and support organizational communications around new IT systems or upgrades.
• Provide standards, guidance, and best practices for IT-related training programs.
• Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend improvements to ensure productivity and adoption of IT systems.
• Lead or supervise training staff as needed and act as a technical expert across multiple projects.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• US Citizen with Active Secret Clearance or we can sponsor your Secret clearance.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in IT training development and delivery (certifications or equivalent experience may substitute).
• Strong understanding of computer functions, IT systems, and technical terminology in business contexts.
• Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to design instructionally sound training across multiple delivery platforms.
• Experience supporting large-scale IT training initiatives in government or enterprise environments.
• Experience with RoboHelp for creating structured help and training documentation.
• Experience with Adobe Captivate for developing interactive e-learning modules and simulations.
• Familiarity with web-based learning platforms and performance support system
