Lewis Accounting & Tax Service Inc. is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Staff Accountant / Tax Preparer to join our growing team in Chesapeake. We are looking for someone who is professional, dependable, and committed to providing exceptional service to our clients.

Position Responsibilities:

• Prepare individual and business tax returns accurately and efficiently
• Review financial records, bookkeeping reports, and supporting documentation
• Assist clients with tax-related questions and provide professional guidance
• Perform bookkeeping and account reconciliations as needed
• Analyze financial data and identify discrepancies
• Maintain organized and accurate client files
• Ensure compliance with federal and state tax regulations
• Communicate professionally with clients and team members
• Assist with year-round tax planning and accounting projects

Qualifications:

• Experience preparing individual and/or business tax returns
• Knowledge of federal and Virginia tax laws preferred
• Experience with ProSeries (preferred)
• Strong bookkeeping and accounting knowledge
• Proficiency with QuickBooks (preferred)
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Accounting degree preferred
