Vehicle Compliance Lead Specialist (Financial Regulatory Analyst)

The Prince William County Tax Administration-Compliance Division is seeking a Vehicle Compliance Lead Specialist (Financial Regulatory Analyst) to join our team of hard-working detail-oriented individuals to service both the community and our taxpayers. About This Role: As a Vehicle Compliance Lead Specialist you will serve as backup to the Vehicle Compliance Manager. This position will handle their assigned district by conducting field surveys, researching, assessing and corresponding with taxpayers verbally and in writing. You will handle calls that have been escalated and will be the next point of contact in the appeals process. You will interpret tax laws pertaining to the state and county codes; and will be responsible for creating productivity reports to ensure staff are meeting deadlines and assessment goals. The incumbent will order plates from various states in addition to handling the sponsorship/certification for new hires to become Virginia Criminal Investigation Network (VCIN) certified. The position also manages the schedule for staff to conduct field surveys, to ensure that staff are conducting field surveys as scheduled and assisting with scheduling maintenance with Fleet Management in the absence of the manager. This position requires the candidate to be very organized, detail-oriented, and knowledgeable of the rules and regulations mandated by the state and county codes. This position also requires providing excellent customer service to constituents inquiring about personal property taxes. The candidate would have extensive analytical and research experience, which will be required to assist staff and management when needed, and should also know all aspects of Tax Administration and require minimal training. Minimum Requirements: H.S. Diploma or GED plus 5 years' experience in tax administration to include 2 years of experience in Vehicle compliance. Preferences:
- Experience working with a high volume local government tax office
- Must be knowledgeable of the Code of Virginia and Prince William County Code pertaining to the collection of personal property taxes.
- Must have experience handling tax evader cases pertaining to reported vehicles that are not in compliance with state and county laws.
