Cyber Systems Engineer – Supporting National Defense & Homeland Security
Are you a transitioning Navy professional or veteran ready to apply your mission-critical experience to the cyber domain? Peraton is seeking dedicated individuals to support engineering efforts in Cyber Situational Awareness (SA), Cyber Command and Control (C2), Mission Assurance, and Homeland Defense. Your Mission as a Cyber Systems Engineer:
You’ll bring your operational discipline and technical acumen to a team focused on:
- Delivering Agile software engineering within a DevSecOps framework
- Designing and managing secure cloud architectures
- Supporting cybersecurity operations aligned with the Risk Management Framework (RMF)
- Rapidly developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining cyber defense capabilities
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Providing Information Assurance services to safeguard critical networks and systems
- Translating mission requirements into secure, compliant technical solutions
- Preparing RMF documentation and test plans to support system accreditation
- Conducting risk and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate threats
- Auditing security programs and recommending enhancements to close compliance gaps
- Developing and integrating cybersecurity tools to strengthen system defenses
- Supporting incident investigations and implementing risk mitigation strategies
- Advising on security architecture to meet evolving federal and DoW requirements

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications: LU
- Experience:
- At least 2 years of relevant experience with a BS/BA degree, or 6 years of hands-on experience in lieu of a degree
- Minimum 2 years of cybersecurity experience specifically supporting Risk Management Framework (RMF) tasks
- Certifications:
- Must hold a DoD 8140.01 certification at the Basic 541 level, or an equivalent IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+, CCNA Security)
- Must obtain an IAT Level III Certification within 6 months of starting.
- Technical Skills:
- Proven experience implementing Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
- Skilled in conducting vulnerability assessments using the Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS)
- Demonstrated ability to re-mediate findings, including applying vendor patches across both Linux and Windows environments
- Willingness to travel within the continental U.S. up to 25%
- Active Secret clearance required
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Current U.S. Passport or ability to obtain prior to start date.

Details
Target Salary Range: $80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
