Critical Systems Technician II, Connected Services

Responsibilities
- Assist with battery replacements and new installations for UPS systems.
- Support preventative and scheduled maintenance of batteries with minimal disruption to customers.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site during all service activities.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external customers to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Follow operational, maintenance, and emergency procedures to ensure safety and compliance.
- Adhere strictly to facility work rules and safety protocols.
- Utilize hand tools and general maintenance equipment as required.
- Assist with tasks in other service divisions, such as Switch Gear, Operations, and HVAC, as needed.
- Work from schematic diagrams, sketches, and verbal instructions to complete assignments.
- Learn and apply procedures for disconnecting and connecting sealed batteries in cabinets and open racks.
- Gain experience in building battery racks and spill containment systems, and installing batteries in critical spaces.
- Enter pre-installation test readings and collect data from maintenance services using a laptop computer.
- Develop skills in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs for DC battery systems with increasing independence.
- Participate in warehouse operations as needed.
- Travel approximately 30% or more for service assignments.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Services Management.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of or willingness to learn AC/DC theory, electronic components, and circuitry.
- Ability to safely operate department equipment and use hand tools.
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn the use of digital multimeters, amp clamps, and battery testing equipment.
- Understanding of or willingness to learn proper use of isolation devices, arc-flash suits, and PPE.
- Competency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- Ability to work from diagrams, sketches, and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- OSHA 10-hour certification and NFPA-70E Safety Training are preferred.
