Critical Systems Technician II, Connected Services

Responsibilities

  • Assist with battery replacements and new installations for UPS systems.
  • Support preventative and scheduled maintenance of batteries with minimal disruption to customers.
  • Maintain a clean and organized job site during all service activities.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external customers to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Follow operational, maintenance, and emergency procedures to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Adhere strictly to facility work rules and safety protocols.
  • Utilize hand tools and general maintenance equipment as required.
  • Assist with tasks in other service divisions, such as Switch Gear, Operations, and HVAC, as needed.
  • Work from schematic diagrams, sketches, and verbal instructions to complete assignments.
  • Learn and apply procedures for disconnecting and connecting sealed batteries in cabinets and open racks.
  • Gain experience in building battery racks and spill containment systems, and installing batteries in critical spaces.
  • Enter pre-installation test readings and collect data from maintenance services using a laptop computer.
  • Develop skills in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs for DC battery systems with increasing independence.
  • Participate in warehouse operations as needed.
  • Travel approximately 30% or more for service assignments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Services Management.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of or willingness to learn AC/DC theory, electronic components, and circuitry.
  • Ability to safely operate department equipment and use hand tools.
  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn the use of digital multimeters, amp clamps, and battery testing equipment.
  • Understanding of or willingness to learn proper use of isolation devices, arc-flash suits, and PPE.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work from diagrams, sketches, and verbal instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • OSHA 10-hour certification and NFPA-70E Safety Training are preferred.
