Proposal Writer/Manager

Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Proposal Writer to support the development of competitive, compliant, and compelling proposals for federal government contracts. The Proposal Writer will collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), capture managers, and proposal managers to translate technical, management, and operational concepts into clear, persuasive proposal content. This role requires excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, write, and edit proposal sections including executive summaries, technical approaches, management plans, past performance, resumes, and other content as required.
- Collaborate with SMEs and technical staff to gather information and translate complex technical concepts into clear, compliant narratives.
- Ensure all proposal content adheres to RFP requirements, evaluation criteria, and company standards for style, tone, and accuracy.
- Edit and proofread proposal content for clarity, grammar, consistency, and compliance.
- Support storyboarding sessions, content development workshops, and color team reviews (Pink, Red, Gold).
- Maintain version control and contribute to proposal library content, templates, and boilerplate materials.
- Assist in the development of graphics, tables, and other visual aids to enhance proposal readability.
- Work collaboratively with the proposal team to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality submissions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in proposal writing for federal government contractors (Shipley or APMP methodology experience preferred).
- Strong understanding of the federal acquisition process (FAR, DFARS, and RFP compliance).
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat; experience with proposal automation tools a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical staff.
