Ferrum College
Ferrum, VA

The Hourly Test Proctor is a crucial, part-time position responsible for maintaining the integrity, security, and fairness of all administered exams, including academic make-up tests, quizzes, and accommodated exams for students with Academic Accommodations, in compliance with Ferrum College and official testing agency policies. This is an excellent opportunity for detail-oriented, reliable individuals seeking flexible hours during the academic year.

  • Verify Identity: Check and confirm the identity of all examinees using a valid photo ID (e.g., Ferrum College ID or government-issued ID) before distributing any materials.
  • Distribute and Collect Materials: Accurately distribute and collect all test booklets, answer sheets, scratch paper, and approved materials, meticulously counting them before and after the exam.
  • Enforce Rules: Clearly communicate and strictly enforce all exam rules, regulations, and time limits to all test-takers consistently and fairly.
  • Monitor Students: Actively and consistently observe students to prevent academic dishonesty and unauthorized use of electronic devices or materials.

Logistical and Administrative Support

  • Prepare Testing Station: Set up and troubleshoot computers and any necessary software or materials for both paper and computer-based exams.
  • Handle Accommodations: Administer exams for students with documented accommodations (e.g., extended time, reduced distraction environment) as directed.
  • Document Irregularities: Promptly and accurately record any suspicious behavior, rule violations, or technical issues on a formal incident report and notify the supervisor immediately.
  • Maintain Confidentiality: Handle all confidential test materials, student information, and academic records with the highest level of discretion and security.

Minimum Qualifications
