Front Desk Patient Services Representative
Location: Colonial Heights, VA
Schedule:
- 2 days: 9:30 AM – 6:30 PM
- 3 days: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
- (Schedule created months in advance but may vary based on clinicians’ schedules; flexibility required.)
Job Description
We are seeking a Front Desk Patient Services Representative to join a dynamic healthcare team. This role is essential in creating a welcoming and efficient experience for our patients. Responsibilities include:
- Greeting patients at the front desk, checking them in and out, and managing patient registration.
- Scheduling follow-up appointments and ensuring accurate documentation in multiple EMR systems.
- Answering incoming phone calls and assisting patients with inquiries.
- Calling insurance companies for authorizations and verifying coverage via payer websites.
- Sending thank-you notes to referring doctors and assisting with community marketing efforts.
- Balancing multiple tasks simultaneously: supporting doctors, assisting patients in person, and managing phone calls.
- Time allocation: approximately 33% phones, 33% computer work, 33% patient interaction.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Patient Customer Service : Exceptional interpersonal skills are the top priority.
- Insurance Knowledge : Experience with insurance verification or related processes.
- Strong computer skills and professional phone etiquette.
- Detail-oriented, flexible, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
- Positive personality for patient interaction and outreach activities.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Colonial Heights, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
