Program: Global Command and Control System - Joint (GCCS-J)

The Global Command and Control System - Joint (GCCS-J) is the Department of Defense's system of record for joint command and control, delivering a fused, real-time battlespace picture to commanders and warfighters.

The modernization effort focuses on cloud-native development, microservices architecture, advanced data ingestion and synchronization, improved data models, and enhanced user experience in support of JADC2-aligned mission objectives.

The Product Owner will serve as both a product leader and subject matter expert (SME) for GCCS-J capabilities, including areas such as Situational Awareness, Infrastructure, and Intelligence.

This role is responsible for defining product vision, managing the roadmap and backlog, and ensuring the delivery of high-value, mission-aligned capabilities using Agile/Scrum practices. The Product Owner operates at the intersection of technical teams, program leadership, and end users, driving alignment across operational needs and system capabilities.

• Define, communicate, and maintain product vision, roadmap, and backlog

• Align backlog priorities with strategic direction from engineering and architecture leadership

• Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to capture, refine, and prioritize user stories

• Conduct regular backlog grooming to ensure Definition of Ready

• Continuously adjust backlog priorities based on mission needs and sprint outcomes

• Accept or reject completed work and enforce Definition of Done

• Participate in sprint reviews, design reviews, and program-level meetings (e.g., DISA, stakeholder reviews)

• Define clear acceptance criteria and ensure quality delivery
