Key Job Details – Neuro ICU RN Travel Position

• Location: Roanoke, Virginia 24014 (Virginia nursing jobs)
• Healthcare Setting: Neuro ICU (7S NCC ICU)
• Employment Type: Locum Tenens / Travel Registered Nurse
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (option to extend up to 52 weeks)
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1800-$1840
• Shifts: Night 3x12-Hour (18:45 - 07:15) is standard; 4x12-Hour nights (up to 48 hours/week) available by request
• Hours per Week: 36 (standard); up to 48 available by request
• Patient Ratio: 2:1
• Start Date: October 6, 2025
• End Date: April 6, 2026
• Unit Size: 12 beds

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Virginia or compact state)
• Minimum 1 year of recent ICU nursing experience (Neuro ICU experience required)
• Experience in large Level I/II healthcare facility
• Proficiency with Epic EMR charting system
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Ability to work at least 1 holiday per 13-week assignment (2 holidays for winter assignments)
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred

ICU Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients with neuro-specific diagnoses: stroke, neurosurgery, complex spine, and related complications
• Manage advanced neurocritical procedures: external ventricular drains (EVDs), therapeutic thermoregulation
• Perform and assist with ICU procedures: arterial line management, chest tube insertion/removal, ventilator management, central/PICC line care, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Interpret ABGs and dysrhythmias, manage emergency medications, and respond to rapid changes in patient condition
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: IV, physical therapy, respiratory, radiology, pharmacy, and social services
• Maintain infection prevention protocols and isolation precautions
• Utilize Epic EMR for accurate documentation and patient care coordination
