Job Summary:

We are seeking a friendly, organized, and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our busy ophthalmology practice. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for our patients, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring efficient front desk operations. Medical office experience is preferred, and familiarity with ophthalmology is a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities:

Front Desk & Patient Interaction:

• Greet patients in a warm and professional manner

• Check-in and check-out patients efficiently and accurately

• Collect and verify patient demographics, insurance information, and necessary forms

• Schedule, confirm, and reschedule appointments using practice management software

Administrative Support:

• Answer multi-line phone system and route calls appropriately

• Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence (emails, faxes, mail)

• Maintain an organized and clean reception area

• Assist with prior authorizations and referrals, as needed

Billing & Insurance:

• Collect co-pays, balances, and provide receipts

• Verify insurance eligibility and coverage prior to appointments

• Assist billing staff with claims processing information, as needed

Coordination with Clinical Staff:

• Communicate effectively with technicians, physicians, and management to ensure seamless patient flow

• Prepare charts and ensure all necessary documentation is in place before appointments
